Perpetual Calendar

.....

Finally, a Calendar for Any Year (between 1900 to 2078). Just '
Downloadthe file and all you need to do is to change the Year of the Calendar you want.

Somewhere in 1999 or 2000, I came into possession of this file. I gave it to a friend to use before deleting it because I had wanted to create one just like it on my own, but one which starts on a Monday instead. The one I created is not automated yet, so I've decided to concede defeat and just use this one although it starts on a Sunday.

Luckily my friend saved it and said that it had served her well for so many years since 1999 or 2000. I do not know who the creator is, and have no way of finding out. I can't even remember how I came into possession of this file.

Feel free to download and use.

I like the simple melody and even the lyrics, although I think it's pure
plagiarism... but very-clever-and-artistically-well-done-plagiarism.
See English Idioms on the internet... click HERE.

Also a good song for learning English Idioms
and definitely very good for Children to learn.

Scroll down for the Video... and here are the lyrics.

by Singer Songwriter: Lenka Kripac

As sly as a fox, as strong as an ox
As fast as a hare, as brave as a bear
As free as a bird, as mean as a word
As quiet as a mouse, as big as a house

[Chorus 1]
All... I wanna be
Oh oh oh... All... I wanna be
Oh oh oh... All... I wanna be
Is everything...

As mean as a wolf, as sharp as a tooth
As deep as a bite, as dark as the night
As sweet as a song, as right as a wrong
As long as a road, as ugly as a toad
As pretty as a picture hanging from a fixture
Strong like a family, strong as I wanna be
Bright as day, as light as play
As hard as nails, as grand as a whale

[Chorus 1]
All... I wanna be
Oh oh oh... All... I wanna be
Oh oh oh... All... I wanna be
Is everything...

[Chorus 2]
Everything at once
Everything at once
Oh... everything at once

As long as the sun, as silly as fun
As cool as a tree, as scary as the sea
As hot as fire, cold as ice
Sweet as sugar and everything nice
As old as time, as straight as a line
As royal as a queen, as buzzed as a bee
As stealth as a tiger, smooth as a glider
Pure as a melody, pure as I wanna be

[Chorus 1] [Chorus 1]

English ~ Spelled/Spelt ~ Learned/Learnt ~ Spilled/Spilt

Email below, which started this blog, is a sample of Out-of-Office Email Disclamer in 'Copy Writing'...
which is more accurately 'spelt or spelled' as 'Copywriting' and not to be confused with Copyright.

This interest has branched of to other interests like:
• Spelled vs. Spelt ~ I prefer 'Spelled' as 'Spelt' could mean something else... I think it's a kind of 'wheat'.
• Learned vs. Learnt ~ I prefer 'Learnt' to differentiate it from 'Learned' pronounced as 'Learn-ed'.
• Spilled vs. Spilt ~

.....

Copywriting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copywriting

Not to be confused with Copyright.

Copywriting is the act of writing copy (text) for the purpose of advertising or marketing a productbusinesspersonopinion or idea. The addressee (reader, listener, etc.) of the copy is meant to be persuaded to buy the product advertised for, or subscribe to the viewpoint the text shares.

Copywriters are used to help create direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyricsweb page content (although if the purpose is not ultimately promotional, its author might prefer to be called a content writer), online ads, e-mail and other Internet content, television or radio commercial scriptspress releaseswhite paperscatalogsbillboards, brochures, postcards, sales letters, and other marketing communications media. Copy can also appear in social media content including blog posts, tweets, and social-networking site posts.

Content writing on websites may include among its objectives the achievement of higher rankings in search engines. Known as "organic" search engine optimization (SEO), [1] this practice involves the strategic placement and repetition of keywords and keyword phrases on web pages, writing in a manner that human readers would consider normal.

Spelled vs. spelt

http://grammarist.com/spelling/spelled-spelt/

In American English, spelt primarily refers to the hardy wheat grown mostly in Europe, and the verb spell makes spelled in the past tense and as a past participle. In all other main varieties of English, spelt and spelled both work as the past tense and past participle of spell, at least where spell means to form words letter by letter or (with outto make clear. Outside the U.S., the two forms are interchangeable in these senses, and both are commonly used.

But when spell carries the sense to temporarily relieve (someone) from workspelled is the preferred form throughout the English-speaking world. This is a minor point, though, as this sense of spell is rarely used outside the U.S., where it is most common.

Spelled is not a recent Americanism, as many people assume (including some who have commented on this post). Both spelled and spelt are old, and examples of each are easily found in historical Google Books searches covering the 17th and 18th centuries. It is true, however, that spelt was ascendant everywhere through most of the 19th century. This ended when the Americans permanently settled on spelled around 1900.

Here in Australia it is spelt, not spelled, learnt is completely different to learned (pronounced learn-ed, as in my learn-ed colleague). Ho is something Santa says, Hoe is what you till the earth in your vegie patch and a Whore is a lady of the night or a prostitute.

Know The Law

Wow! "... 18 months in jail and three strokes of the cane...".
I think this is considered very much like vandalism which is also punishable by the cane in Singapore.

UNABLE to pay off his $400 loans from an unlicensed moneylender, a 19-year-old full-time national serviceman became a 'commando" - a harasser for a loanshark - and set fire to the homes of debtors.

On Tuesday, Bernard Quek He Feng, now 21, was sentenced to 18 months in jail and three strokes of the cane.

A district court heard that he was paid $120 for each home that he targeted for the loanshark known only as Kilat. Quek bought a tin of kerosene, which he would pour into a plastic bottle whenever he received an assignment.

He would scribble loanshark graffiti on the wall and then either splash the kerosene on the main door or on nearby shoe racks before setting these on fire.

He would then report back to Kilat, who may call the victim and threaten to inflict worse damage if the loan is not repaid.

Quek admitted to harassing owners of four flats in November and December last year. He was given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on two other charges.

Responsorial Psalm 95 ~ Christmas Midnight Mass (Year ABC)

Responsorial Psalm 95

Response:
Today a saviour has been born to us; he is Christ the Lord.

V1
O sing a new song to the Lord,
sing to the Lord all the earth.
O sing to the Lord, bless his name.

V2
Proclaim his help day by day,
tell among the nations his glory
and his wonders among all the peoples.

V3
Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad,
let the sea and all within it thunder praise,
let the land and all it bears rejoice,
all the trees of the wood shout for joy
at the presence of the Lord for he comes,
he comes to rule the earth.

V4
With justice he will rule the world,
he will judge the peoples with his truth.
